We talked about some amazing gems of knowledge and experience acquired this week at the Traffic & Conversions Summit in sunny San Diego!  We shared many tidbits related to the evolving landscape of social media and the real importance of OWNING your own audience and data.  

We shared insights from billionaire Lululemon CEO Chip Wilson, Steve Sims, Pedro Adao, Martha Stewart and so many others.  We talked at length about the importance of following through with commitments - doing what we say we will do!  We talked about finding mentors and being relentless with ironclad systems and processes.

095: How to FLUSH Your Mistakes FOREVER!

In this episode we talked about some excellent sports analogies - especially as we get ready to start the 4th quarter of the year!  We talked about our purpose on this podcast and different scenarios surrounding my kids' development in sports.  

We talked about coaching my 9 year old and how some of the kids were letting mistakes drag them down for the rest of practice.  I shared some details of a pep talk I gave them related to an incredible overtime game between the Saints and the Vikings.  We talked about how Adam Thielen "flushed" the ball after mistakes so he could move forward with a clean slate - a metaphor that applies everywhere in life!  Let's go!

093: 3 Keys to Making A LOT of Money!

We talked in this episode first about making and achieving our goals as time continues to fly by.  We also discussed some of the values of our company and how important it is to find, validate and agree with peoples problems before telling them the good news that we can help solve them.

We also shared the story of Jim Britt, one of Tony Robbins' mentors and how Jim built an extraordinary life out of next to nothing.  He had to come up with $4000 when he only had $27 in his bank account.  He started a business and basically failed for the first year.  A mentor then taught him the importance of meeting people where they are and establishing common ground as a means to an end to both help them AND make more money.  Let's go!

Sam shared some interesting background between the restaurant and automotive businesses that led into consulting and running his own firm.  He then shared how they solved problems in the automotive industry and how to create a tactical strategy with actionable steps in your business.  

He shared what his company, Tip of the Spear Ventures, does for businesses and some of how the venture capital space functions.  He talked about the importance of having a plan with money and not putting "the cart before the horse".  Sam also shared how leadership mentality must evolve over time as a business grows beyond certain revenue thresholds and how to take the next steps forward.  Let's go!

In this episode, we shared about how my son Marcus broke his arm over the weekend.  We discussed that, although life isn't fair, we can work hard & smart, thus putting the odds in our favor.  We talked about immediately pivoting (as Marcus has) to continue to challenge one's self.

I shared about listening to Ed Mylett's interview with baseball Hall-of-Famer Rod Carew and some great insights from his life trials plus his mission to help children in particular.  

We talked about 7 Figures getting tons of great reviews because we get results for clients and who OUR dream client is.  We talked about the founder of Lululemon having a VERY specific definition of their dream client as well.

Today we talked about the important topic of how we face problems in our lives - business, personal or otherwise.  We talked about some recent examples related to our office move and the all-important need to focus on SOLUTIONS.  

We shared an example of a problem with a client and some games that were being played as well as throwing fits.  We decided to stay focused on the issue itself, the facts and, again, SOLUTIONS.  

It is important to stay calm and remove oneself from the emotions, returning to reason and logic.  We shared some other principles and even some information surrounding my son Lucas and how he operates in his life.  Let's go!

In this episode, we had the amazing honor of welcoming and chatting candidly with the one and only Jill Stanton of Screw the Nine to Five.  

She told about her early years and never really being cut out for a "normal job".  She told some stories about her husband and business partner Josh's first attempts at entrepreneurship as well.  She talks about how they eventually built websites and cracked the code of successful course launches.

In this episode, we first covered our family's recent trip to Orlando to visit Disney World, Universal Studios and other attractions there.  We talked about the perspective of immigrants and the dramatic story of an immigrant couple from Venezuela we met in Florida.  We shared some of their harrowing tale of having their business and all their money stolen and then the husband getting shot and what happened next.

There is hope and we can reframe our view of failure as an accepted natural step and learning experience in the process of growth.

In this episode, Marquel brought us some really solid strategies he has implemented for the last 10+ years to generate over $250 million in sales for his clients.  He shows businesses how to properly engage in client attraction.

He also elaborates on his past when he was a young entrepreneur that, for a time, engaged in dealing drugs and went to jail.  He realized he was done with the jail thing and found tons of value in online marketing.  He did share many of the business and marketing skills he learned in the drug trade such as critical thinking, leadership, samples (free value), etc.

We had the privilege today of talking with Terri Levine who has authored a dozen books and helped thousands of businesses maximize and multiply their results!  She tells several stories including how she started as an entrepreneur in childhood.

070: From Immigrant to Land Flipping Empire Builder! (w/ JACK BOSCH)

In this episode, Jack opens up about his childhood in Germany where he learned to not be afraid of hard work, although he didn't have many entrepreneurial tendencies there.  

Upon coming to America as an exchange student, he obtained his MBA and met his wife - who is also an immigrant from Honduras.  Over time, and after working demanding and draining 80+ hour work weeks, they began investing in real estate.  

They made many mistakes.  They also were able to use a piece of commercial real estate to fund his mother-in-law's retirement.  They got into big land deals, tax liens and continued learning as they built an empire.  

Now, they teach others the trade and travel at least three months per year!

069: Real Wealth! (w/ KATHY FETTKE)

Kathy tells us some amazing stories and brought us a great deal of actionable information in this episode.  She told about how her husband almost died when diagnosed with melanoma several years ago.  She wanted to lighten his load and began looking for ways to generate wealth.  

She followed and modeled those who were successful and bought several properties in Texas after realizing she didn't need to "reinvent the wheel".  They got creative and rented rooms while creatively utilizing mortgages and other tools.

Michelle came to us with so much value, it'll make your head spin!  After being born to immigrant parents and learning the hard paths, she became a major achiever and was even number one in her class.  When she subsequently got sucked into her job, she finally became an entrepreneur.  And, guess what?!  She found that that was even harder.  It took her 7 1/2 years to experiment and grow incrementally.  After hitting a rock bottom of sorts, she found a mentor and standardized her work.  She saw the value of recurring revenue as well as mindset.  She shares with us here some great insights about selling directly - not just on a webinar, the value of authenticity (which is "alignment with [our] truest self") and the importance of maintaining a solid balance in life and business.  Let's go!

Michael Ealy came to us while on the road and shared with us several examples of getting in on large and multi-unit apartment buildings as an investment.  He shared with us about working with an agency and specializing based on certain types of neighborhoods and tenants.  He talked with us about cash flowing from a property vs. flipping and why he prefers the former.  He talked to us about clearing over $1M on individual deals after having started small with single family homes.  He also told us some stories of difficulties and how he muscled through.  He talks about progressing now towards hotels and even hedge funds as he has grown his business.  Let's go!

The story of Warren Coughlin starts with him almost dying at child birth.  He says this planted some seeds in him of maximizing his life and taking smart and calculated risks as an entrepreneur.

He left his law practice to start a semi-pro sports team and experienced a loss (with a semi-win from learning).  He went on to teach a marketing law course while preparing for his next attempt, which would prove successful.

064: Earn 7 FIGURES Per Land Development Deal! (w/ CODY BJUGAN)

Cody Bjugan shared his story of a difficult and financially strained childhood where he learned "what not to be" by watching his father.  He came to realize that talk is cheap and knew he could pivot and make a different legacy for himself.  After getting married and having a child straight out of high school, the life challenges abounded.

Eventually, after being driven and working hard in the mainstream workforce, Cody began a personal development journey and learned from grinding.  He knew he was not going to give up and he believed in himself.  He had to keep his focus on his purpose and his "why"!  He learned through the process of trials and tribulations - including the 2008 financial crisis - that life's difficulties always present opportunities.

This is a powerful episode of persistence, resilience, obsession and ALL the real principles behind real success.  Michael shared about his rough upbringing as an immigrant from Uzbekistan in the early 90's.  From domestic violence to poor school experiences, he transitioned and rose from the ashes of failure to learn about building teams, investing and success principles.

Jim Britt gave us a spellbinding interview telling us about his childhood when he started working at age 6, moving every year until 9th grade.  He was invited to a life-changing event and, through sheer persistence, was able to change the course of his life.  

He started in sales and, after a year of failure, was able to turn that around by learning the formula to find and solve others' pain points.  He told of success traits and overcoming the "getting by" mentality.  He expounded on the unfortunate power of our excuses and self-imposed limitations.

He talked about always being the student and the importance of speed and urgency towards success while focusing on the top one to three things that actually move the needle.  We talked about mindset, focus, genius energy, lessons learned (including from angel investing), that ego is the enemy and to create something that brings value to a lot of people.
